InterNiche Technologies Joins the MIPS Alliance Program and Announces Support for MIPS Technologies Leading Embedded Processors

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 2001--InterNiche Technologies, Inc., the leading supplier of royalty-free embedded protocol software, today announced it has joined MIPS Technologies' MIPS Alliance Program (MAP) and will provide support for all of its protocol software products for MIPS Technologies' leading 32- and 64-bit embedded processor cores. MIPS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:MIPS, MIPSB - ) is a leading provider of industry standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer and network applications.

``Our decision to support MIPS Technologies' processors and to work closely with them on marketing strengthens our position as the number one provider of royalty-free embedded protocol technology such as TCP/IP, HTTP, web browsers and network management utility software,'' said Larry Larder, president of InterNiche Technologies. ``We have been working closely with MIPS Technologies to provide out-of-box embedded software, enabling Internet connectivity across the entire MIPS Technologies processor line.''

``By joining MAP, InterNiche Technologies has formalized its commitment and investment in the MIPS32 and MIPS64 architectures,'' said John Hinton, director of business development at InterNiche Technologies.

``InterNiche's protocol software contributes to our embedded processor solutions in Internet and networking technologies,'' said Brian Knowles, vice president of marketing at MIPS Technologies. ``InterNiche's technology is available to developers of the MIPS architecture who want to add Internet connectivity or network management capabilities. We see demand for this in set-top boxes, game consoles, DSL modems, routers and other devices.''

InterNiche offers a full line of software for adding Internet connectivity to embedded systems utilized by leading computer, telecom, industrial, and consumer electronics companies worldwide. InterNiche's products include a TCP/IP protocol stack, web server (WebPort(TM)), web browser (NicheView(TM)), servers for POP3 email, TELNET, DHCP and FTP, plus routing protocols (NATrouter and RIP), and SNMP network management software. InterNiche has developed XIP, an alternative to IPv6, which will solve today the problem of communicating across gateways with Internet enabled devices in the home or small office.
